Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Fire Protection Integration Engineer to support a long-term contract opportunity, based in Bellevue, WA. In this critical role, you will work closely with diverse engineering teams to ensure the successful integration of fire hazard analyses and design requirements crucial for the nuclear plant's fire protection systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to consolidate inputs and requirements for comprehensive fire hazard analysis and design documentation. Establish and ensure adherence to fire protection licensing and code requirements within all design phases. Develop and review fire protection design bases for nuclear island structures, factoring in extreme fire hazards such as seismic-induced fires, large area sodium fires, wildfires, and fires within sodium-containing structures. Assist in evaluating plant design cost studies and contribute to informed engineering decisions. Coordinate and lead integrated design reviews, ensuring thorough cross-discipline collaboration and the rectification of technical concerns. Research and implement risk-informed, performance-based methodologies for enhanced fire protection design and analyses. Monitor and appraise the design efforts of organizations, partners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure technical requirements are met efficiently. Maintain strict adherence to project timelines while overseeing the planning and execution of fire protection design activities. Support the integration of plant data into the fire protection licensing basis and documentation for regulatory compliance under the Licensing Modernization Project. Contribute to fire protection licensing endeavors associated with various applications and submissions. Promote continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices, maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality and identifying opportunities for process enhancements.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; higher degrees are a plus. A minimum of 10 years of experience in fire protection design and analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to think creatively around challenges. Experience in developing and implementing Fire Protection Programs. Demonstrated expertise in multi-discipline and multi-organization design integration. Exceptional technical writing, communication, and presentation skills. Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to achieving technical excellence. Proven ability to manage projects with multiple, competing objectives and to resolve conflicts effectively.
