Employees who live 50 miles or more from their permanent work location may be allowed to telework more than 50% with approval from the division director. **_ This position exists to provide analysis, advice, and improve data quality on fire incident and prevention data in Minnesota and within the State Fire Marshal division so that the best possible decisions on goals and strategies can be made. Overall, this position will use the fire incident and prevention data to identify problems and assist in developing solutions to reduce damage to property and loss of life and injury to Minnesotans due to fires. This will be accomplished by using appropriate data analysis, statistical techniques, and research. _The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. DPS does not participate in E-Verify._ **Minimum Qualifications** + Two* years of research experience collecting, analyzing, evaluating, synthesizing, and organizing information in databases. + Proficiency in statistics and statistical methods, their applications and limitation, sufficient to select and use procedures appropriate to problems and to interpret results. + Experience using Microsoft Office programs, business intelligence software, GIS, and data visualization software. + Communication skills sufficient to write reports and conduct oral presentations for technical and nontechnical audiences. + Proficiency in investigating, organizing, and presenting data as a comprehensive analysis. + Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities. *A bachelor's degree or higher may substitute one year of experience. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree or higher and research or data analytics + Experience as a firefighter + 5+ years of research or data analytics experience **Physical Requirements** Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools.
