FinOps Lead - Optimization and Efficiency We have a great opportunity to use your financial and data experience to help M&T Bank drive efficiency and gain value from our Cloud adoption journey. We are seeking a full-time FinOps lead to serve as the principal lead in managing the resource and cost usage of the cloud environment. The purpose of this role is to work with our Cloud & data center engineering teams to ensure we’re using our cloud instances efficiently and effectively and eliminating unnecessary spending. This role will be responsible for providing clear visibility into spend and usage. In this role, you’ll be responsible for proactively collaborating with Business Line Application engineering groups to manage cloud & on premise resources, execute cost-cutting methods, and ensure cloud & on prem spending and usage constructively supports organizational growth.The ideal candidate will have experience in cloud & on prem resource management and will be self-motivated and detail oriented. The ideal candidate takes ownership over Optimization Strategy, visualization and will work with the business line application teams to help the successful execution of optimization opportunities.ResponsibilitiesSupport the cloud data lifecycle from start to finish with a focus on building optimized environments and continuing to optimize throughout the life of instances.Working with Cloud Platform engineering, support the business lines in maintaining their environments within the parameters of the Azure Budget, oversee the Azure Billing Dashboard, and manage the Azure Compute Savings PlanCreate operational metrics to demonstrate costs and usage and to identify areas for cost-cutting optimization.Serve as a liaison between Microsoft and M&T to obtain recommendations on how to reduce costs and use resources effectively in our Microsoft Azure environments.Lead metrics and dashboard review meetings · Devise and distribute billing reports to internal stakeholders to achieve effective cost management.Work within the Cloud organization including Architecture and SRE to ensure cost optimization efforts are understood incorporated in the patterns and policies.Education and Experience Required:Combined minimum of 8 years' combined higher education and/or operational/business analytics/systems development experienceBA or equivalent Microsoft Azure CertificationsKnowledge of Public Cloud cost management and tools (Azure calculator, Apptio/Cloudability, etc.)Knowledge of on prem cost management tools (e.g. Apptio)Solid understanding of the process of tagging resources within AzureEffective collaboration skills, allowing for continuous and proactive communication across various internal groups, from entry level to executive management.Education and Experience Preferred:Bachelor's degreeExperience working with both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)We support our team members with generous benefits. M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,869.52 - $163,115.87 Annual (USD).
