It's all here and it’s exactly what _going further_ is all about. **Position Summary** Under general supervision of the Sr. Manager of Financial Reporting, the Financial Reporting Accountant prepares periodic financial statements. **Major Tasks and Responsibilities** + Assists in the preparation of accurate and timely SEC filings including supporting work papers and binders. + Interacts with other departments and external auditors to ensure complete, accurate, and timely filings. + Performs research on GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including assessing the impact on accounting and financial reporting processes. + Assists with financial statement preparation and month end close. + Assists with the preparation of management, audit committee and other reports. + Produces ad hoc analysis and special projects. + Performs other related duties as assigned. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with CPA or actively working towards CPA + 2+ years of finance/accounting experience including SEC reporting experience + Accounting knowledge of GAAP & SEC technical reporting requirements + Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience preferred + Advanced Microsoft Office skills + Experience in a transportation organization preferred but not required + Excellent oral and written communication skills + Strong organization skills with astute attention to detail + A strong work ethic and willingness to perform hands-on duties **Benefits** At Saia, your success is our success!
