Job Overview:
The Transplant Financial Coordinator is an essential member of a multidisciplinary team, responsible for delivering accurate and professional financial counseling to patients throughout the transplant process. This position ensures compassionate financial support, facilitates access to transplant and LVAD services, and maintains continuity of care.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma with 4 years of relevant experience, Associate's degree with 2 years of experience, or college degree with 1 year of experienceExperience in a hospital, business office, or physician's office settingStrong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and all levels of the organizationPreferred:
Experience in insurance review, verification, and billing processesScheduling Requirements:

Collaborate with patients and families to conduct financial screenings and interviews for transplantation and advanced therapiesPartner with clinical teams to analyze and manage complex data related to contracts and patient benefits for financial clearanceVerify insurance coverage for hospital, professional, and pharmacy services in collaboration with patientsMaintain and update financial and demographic data in shared databases to streamline team workflowsMeet with patients and families during evaluations to provide financial counseling and address their concernsAssist patients in navigating coverage options, including Medicare and Medicaid, and support them in securing alternative resources if neededWork closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely compliance with authorization requirementsMonitor eligibility, benefit changes, and financial status throughout the transplant process in collaboration with patients and the clinical teamFacilitate pre-certifications and initiate prior authorization requests with patients and payorsCoordinate with insurance providers to adhere to contractual guidelines, resolve denials, and collaboratively document outcomesGuide patients through financial approval challenges, offering support and connecting them to their insurance payer’s case managerIdentify and address insurance coverage gaps through alternative funding or financial assistance programsShare financial data with the Utilization Management Department to support medical review processesPartner with the Office of Managed Care to negotiate agreements with insurance providers for transplant coverageStay up-to-date and share insights on CMS regulations related to transplant finance and billing practicesOther Duties:
