Financial Controller (Construction)
Controller – Construction Industry Location: Onsite in Lincoln, NE Direct Reports: 3 (AP, AR, Accountant) About the Role We’re seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting operations and drive financial strategy. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and long-term business planning. You’ll lead a small, high-performing team and collaborate closely with leadership across departments. Key Responsibilities + Oversee all core accounting functions, including accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation + Deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements + Prepare forecasts and financial analyses to support strategic decision-making + Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory reporting standards + Manage and optimize financial systems, with a focus on Sage + Lead internal audits and maintain strong internal controls + Partner with department heads to ensure budget adherence and cost control + Mentor and develop the finance team, setting clear goals and expectations Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field + 4–6 years of construction accounting experience (Accountant, Senior Accountant, or Controller level) + Hands-on experience with WIP (Work-in-Progress) software and Sage + Proven managerial experience (leading a team of 3 or more) + Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial compliance + Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost control + Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to simplify complex financial data + Excellent communication skills, especially when presenting to non-financial stakeholders Preferred Soft Skills + Self-motivated and proactive + Strong problem-solving abilities + High attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture + Tech-savvy and comfortable in a fast-paced environment + Strong multitasking and organizational skills + Strategic mindset for cost savings and efficiency Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
