About the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) : The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) is the State planning agency for criminal justice, juvenile justice, traffic safety, and victim services. The institute develops long-range strategies for the effective administration of Indiana's criminal and juvenile justice systems and administers state and federal funds to carry out these strategies. The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is the designated State Administering Agency for Federal Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Violence Against Women, and Department of Health and Human Services grants within Indiana. These sources of funding are the largest sources of funding for local entities and agencies that provide direct services to victims of crime, including domestic violence and sexual assault. Further, ICJI is responsible for coordinating and collaborating with local, state, and federal entities to identify, assess, plan, resource, and evaluate new and emerging issues facing the criminal justice and public safety spectrum. ICJI works with local, state, and federal entities to evaluate programs associated with the prevention, detection & solution of crimes; law enforcement, and criminal/juvenile justice, to improve and coordinate all aspects of law enforcement and criminal/juvenile justice. The agency evaluates policies, programs, and legislation designed to address these issues. ICJI is designated as the State Administering Agency for distribution of federal funds, and as the State Statistical Analysis Center for research About the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI). Role Overview: The Financial Analyst makes significant recommendations and decisions ensuring the agency fiscal process (budgeting procedures) are followed and completed based on federal, state, and agency policy. General objectives and boundaries are planned with the controller and / or appointing authority. Performs all assigned duties with a high degree of independence. Work is reviewed for impact on and consistency with agency goals and objectives. Will be required to judge when and how often to ask questions affecting work decisions, performance, and agency policy, and be capable of non-routine decision making and interactions in overseeing and administering various reports. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00, but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: + Certify the accurate reporting of agency financial data with respect to area of assignment. + Assist controller in developing annual and biennium budget(s). + Responsible for the monitoring of expenditures are met in accordance with grant provisions. + Assist controller in monitoring expenditures on an ongoing basis to ensure budget compliance. + Review contracts to verify funding source and adherence to annual budget. + Assist in preparation of financial data for monthly and quarterly financial reviews. + Work with contract compliance officer on all financial related matters. + Assist in the development of performance measures for contracts and programs. + Assist controller in developing and / or revising funding models for current or future agency programs. + Analyze and research issues of interest for other program areas within the agency, identifying patterns and trends.
