Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for completing various bank, suspense, balance sheet account reconciliations and other monthly production tasks while working closely with the WAM US Retail and Retirement team and to provide support to our contacts on the related business units within Global Wealth Asset Management (GWAM). The role is focused on deliverables that are related but not limited to accounting and reporting activities within the regular monthly, quarterly, and year end close financial reporting: preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, variances analysis, and various finance reports.

Position Responsibilities:

Work closely with the business units to ensure smooth flow in the daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting cycle of the WAM US Retail and Retirement team.

Responsible for performing accounting and reporting activities such as preparing standard and non-standard journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, bank reconciliation, analyzing financial results, and preparing various reports for both internal / external stakeholders.

Maintain control / process documentation and prepare audit requests related to internal and external audit requirements.

Participate actively in process improvement initiatives by understanding and analyzing business needs and share best practices with other team members.

Compile ad hoc accounting and analyses for BU's and serve as back up support to team members as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience

At least 2 years of experience in related industry.

Demonstrates a working knowledge of accounting rules, regulatory rules and/or business processes as it pertains to the accountant's sphere of responsibility (e.g., a set of regulatory filings or account reconciliations)

Demonstrates broad based analytical and inquiry skills to understand legal entity financial statements, board reports, and/or filings.

Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of several specific reporting concepts as they relate to a specific area of focus (for example: specific footnote disclosures)

Proven ability to thrive in a fast paced, high-performing, and collaborative team environment while managing multiple, constantly changing priorities and ad-hoc requests

Effective interaction and communication skills with different cultures to communicate issues to management and collaborate with colleagues.

Demonstrates a commitment to attain a working knowledge of USGAAP, and IFRS17 accounting bases.

Strong computer skills and an advanced knowledge of MS Excel and the Essbase add-in (knowledge in Power BI and Alteryx is a plus)

Demonstrates a working knowledge of Lawson accounting segments and Essbase roll ups.

Demonstrates proficiency with JETS to create and post journal entries.

Demonstrates strong organization and documentation skills to evidence a clear audit trail for work performed
