Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst supports activities related to the management of inmate medical claims processing function within the health services division.  Manages claims data reporting utilizing multiple data sources.  Enhances and improves auditing and controls related to claims data and information.  Interacts with internal FSC departments and external vendors to coordinate and interpret data, with an emphasis on data accuracy and associated financial impacts. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Processes, analyzes and prepares monthly healthcare reports to be utilized by multiple departments. Creates financial models to analyze opportunities, performance and special projects to support organizational decision making. Analyzes inpatient, outpatient, ancillary and in facility performance through legacy claims data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and recommends solutions or alternatives. Helps develop, populate, track and analyze department performance metrics. Assists in the maintenance of databases by helping to enter, verify, store, back-up and access data sets. Identifies opportunity for performance improvement in health plan savings through case management efforts and the calculation of contracted rate improvements. Assists in quality control analysis to ensure that internal benchmarks are met. Helps to assess revenue cycle performance within the health services department. Analyzes operational performance to help optimize processes. Provides accurate reporting and analysis of claims performance against historical, budgeted, and forecasted projections. Reviews financial results and prepares written analysis and commentary for management.  Assimilates, organizes, and interprets large amounts of data and proactively translates trends into meaningful insights and action items. Domestic U.S. travel may be required.

Qualifications:

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.  Three years' experience in a financial analysis role.  Strong analytical and quantitative skills and advanced technical ability working with spreadsheets and databases.  Detail-oriented and proven ability to meet deadlines. Proactive and highly organized with a demonstrated track record of achieving results independently and in a team environment.  Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. A valid driver’s license is required.
