PURPOSE The Financial Aid Assistant II assists students and their families with Financial Aid applications, processing aid, outreach, and reporting. DESCRIPTION Functional Area 1: Student Support Percent Effort: 70% + Provides assistance and information to students and families on Federal, State, Institutional, and Private Financial Aid programs, including eligibility, application procedures, and debt management. + Help students’ complete forms, gather necessary documents, and understand the application process. + Reviews documents for completeness and accuracy + Works with Financial Aid software and systems to manage student records. + Enters, verifies and retrieves data via computer. + Responds to inquiries regarding Federal Financial Aid forms, records, procedures, and policies. Functional Area 2: Reporting and Data Management Percent Effort: 15% + Preparing and maintaining accurate records of Financial Aid information, including student awards, disbursement data, and compliance reports. + Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional regulations and policies related to Financial Aid. + May evaluate or analyze a wide variety of financial aid related records of an official and confidential nature Functional Area 3: Outreach and Engagement Percent Effort: 15% + Participating in outreach activities, such as workshops and presentations, to educate students and families about Financial Aid. QUALIFICATIONS + High school diploma or GED + Four (4) years of related experience. + Additional experience or education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement: + Associate’s degree and two (2) years of related experience + Bachelor’s degree. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Empathy and patience in dealing with students and families. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Knowledge of Federal, State, and Institutional Financial Aid programs. + Proficiency in Financial Aid software and systems.
