Job Title Financial Accountant II Agency Texas A&M University Department UAS University Accounting Services Proposed Minimum Salary $4,359.34 monthly Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description A Glimpse of the Job The Financial Accountant II is responsible for assistance with TRS review and reporting, 1099 compliance and review, and TRS GL reconciliation Essential Duties/Tasks: TRS Reporting + Complete and submit TRS monthly contribution reporting for 11 reporting entities. + Write up refunds/extra deducts related to the TRS reporting. + Coordinate with HR Benefits to activate or deactivate TRS participation based on reporting data. + Responding to requests from TRS and employees regarding contribution reporting. + Request TRS temp ID number for employees that don't have a social security number. 1099 Reporting + Conduct quarterly and year-end review of 1099 reports for six campuses. + Submit change requests for 1099 reportable items to ensure the accuracy of 1099 forms provided to vendors. This is done for six campuses + Issue corrected 1099 forms to vendors as necessary. Customer Service + Address customer inquiries related to TRS contributions and 1099 reporting. TRS GL Reconciliation + Investigate and respond to general ledger account inquiries from the Reconciliation Department or System Office. Required Education and Experience + Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + Two years accounting experience in a business office. Preferred Qualifications + Experience in higher education. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. + Excellent oral and written communication. customer service, and problem-solving skills. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. + Ability to work independently when necessary. + Ability to analyze activities and recommend process/internal control improvements. + Ability to provide outstanding customer service. + Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations and analyze and improve internal controls.
