Job Title Financial Accountant I Agency Texas A&M University Department UAS University Accounting Services Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description A Glimpse of the Job The Financial Accountant I is responsible for performing entry-level professional accounting tasks and providing technical expertise at a university level. Essential Duties/Tasks: + Research and Analysis - Researches discrepancies and reports findings. Identifies, investigates, and resolves outstanding reconciling items through journal entries, meetings, correspondence, identifying corrections, and following-up. Audits accounting and financial documents for accuracy and completeness. Assures compliance with standards, policies and procedures. + Reconciliations - Prepares and analyzes financial transactions. Prepares and analyzes reconciliations for TDEM general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and state bank accounts. + Data Entry - Records journal entries into FAMIS and USAS. What you need to know Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience. Special Instructions: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended. You may upload these in the CV/Resume section. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. No experience required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs. + Excellent oral and written communication; customer service and problem-solving skills. + Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations in a complex environment. + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. + Accounting experience in a business office. + Experience in higher education. + Working knowledge of database programs. + Knowledge of reconciliations. + Familiarity with FAMIS, USAS, and the TAMU environment. + Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations.
