Job Description
The Financial Accountant I is responsible for performing financial reporting and serving as a resource in all areas of operations within the Budgets & Accounting Department. This position reports to and works closely with the Budgets & Accounting Department Head.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with preparation of financial reports, including annual operating budget, annual financial report, legislative appropriation request, research expenditures report and other required or ad-hoc reports.
-Performs analyses, prepares and enters FAMIS and USAS financial transaction entries, processes accounting corrections and review account activity to assist departments.
-Serves as backup to accounts receivable Financial Accountant II.
-Coordinates document storage, retention and destruction for department records.
-Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in business-related field.
Preferred Education: Accounting or Finance major
Required Experience: None - this is an entry level position.
Preferred Experience: Experience in fiscal office operation at a Texas A&M University System institution.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Knowledge: Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of governmental and higher education fiscal operations.
Required Skills: Strong interpersonal skills
Required Abilities: Comprehend and apply rules and regulations. Sound judgement. Great attention to detail.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses: Required: Texas drivers license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of date of hire.
