Finance Manager – External Reporting

As a Finance Manager – External Reporting, you’ll play a critical role in the preparation and oversight of the company’s external financial reporting process and statutory financial filings. In addition, you will work closely with the Controller Officers on a variety of critical, high-risk, visible responsibilities such as SEC compliance and the creation, interpretation and maintenance of controllership & operations policies and procedures. You will have the unique responsibility of owning the accounting and reporting function of the Best Buy Foundation and managing the submission of various government reporting requests.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. What you’ll doLead a team responsible for the preparation, review, filing and continuous improvement of all BBY Co., Inc. financial SEC filings (Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 11-K and earnings releases)Oversee the preparation and review of numerous statutory required financial statementsAccount for the Best Buy Foundation and seek ways to strengthen and improve its finance functionManage numerous audits and the relationship with our external auditorsReview accounting policies and memos, ensuring they reflect the latest in accounting standards and are reviewed timelyOversee the preparation and submission of various government reporting requests including driving efficiencies and process improvementsTechnical accounting, SEC and GAAP resource for controllership teamsBasic qualifications5 years of progressive work experience in an accounting or public company reporting capacity (including external or internal audit)5 years of experience with Microsoft Excel Preferred qualificationsBachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related fieldIn lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 8+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related field2 years of project management or experience influencing without authorityExperience in researching and applying U.S. GAAP and SEC disclosure requirementsExperience in preparing, reviewing and filing financial statements with the SECStrong written communication and organization skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environmentCPAWhat’s in it for you
