Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is one of the core building blocks of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud-computing business. EC2 allows users to rent virtual servers so that they can run their own computer applications without investing in hardware or having to manage infrastructure systems. In this team you will participate or directly own planning for capital investments in server capacity, from short term decisions with immediate impact to the actual trajectory of the Business to longer term strategy in support of product and operational choices. This role affords a vantage point from which you can interact with many areas of AWS and learn how the cloud computing business works: you will work with senior AWS leadership, product management, supply chain and hardware engineering among others. This role requires a self-starter with strong financial modeling abilities, robust problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong ownership, curiosity, passion for diving deep, and a desire to learn are ideal fits for this role.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with Business stakeholder and tech leaders on controllership activities of EC2 business
- Identify efficiency improvement opportunities for EC2 Control Plane, the 'brain' of EC2 services
- Support ad-hoc analyses needed from finance and business executives.
- Build mechanisms and standard reporting to drive CapEx and OpEx savings
- Write and present narratives and analysis of how EC2 uses other AWS services to senior leadership
