Finance Assistant

Reporting to:    Senior Management Accountant - IP & Digital

Contract:             Permanent

 

Background

The role is a pivotal part of the Commercial and International team based in our Stephen Street Office, London. The team is responsible for the accounting of the Digital and IP function.

 

Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, the Finance Assistant is a key member of the team, assisting in ensuring the timely completion of the day-to-day activities. This will include:

Key Responsibilities

Assist in processing actuals for Digital Revenue. This includes ensuring signed contracts and statements are received and that all is entered into Fremantle systems in line with policy and deadlines. Support the team in recording sales in internal rights management system or SAP for any other different sales including retransmission income and format fees. This should be on a timely basis reflecting details included in royalty statements, signed contracts or deal memos and ensuring that all revenue included in the contract are appropriately invoiced in line with contractual terms or otherwise. Review, validate and process the monthly interdivisional royalties using the Fiori system and DPS. Working closely with the management accountant to ensure SAP tables are updated and assist with any queries from territories to ensure smooth and timely submissions. Perform month-end tasks including posting accrual journals and   monthly reconciliations Support the GL-Shared services centre with any issues relating to royalties, invoices, purchase orders, and payments and provide support to aid the reconciliation of intercompany balances when required. Responding to queries from territories and income providers. Assist in preparing simple ad hoc business analysis and reports. Assist through forecasting and budgeting periods. Assist with audit queries General administrative or ad hoc tasks to support the Team

 

Other Responsibilities

Code and raise Purchase Orders as required and follow invoices through to payment. Support the team to prepare and raise invoices as required. Ensure efficiency of process and pro-actively identifying opportunities for process improvement and commercial enhancement.

 

Essential Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a finance function of a mid-sized corporation. Preferably the candidate will have experience in inter-company transactions and is used to working in a controls-based environment.  The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:

Self-starter who can equally thrive in an environment where they need to take the initiative and initiate change, or take instruction from the Finance Manager Intermediate Excel skills Highly organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines Great presentation and communication skills Great attention to detail Record of effective collaboration across teams and a positive attitude to change demonstrated through study projects or work experience

 

Desirable Skills and Experience

Chartered accountant trainee (Entry level) / part-qualified AAT Advanced Excel skills (proficient with SUMIF / pivot tables and VLOOKUP’s Background in accounting system controls is highly desirable Knowledge of SAP system is highly desirable Experience in Royalty accounting Passion for working in media Experience of working in a media environment. Experience of working in a finance team in a large corporate / multinational company Experience of working with overseas entities and in multicurrency environments
