**Job Description:**
**Summary:**
Under guidance of his/her mentor, the Coop Student will be assigned to a department and/or project to execute projects that increase process efficiencies, reduce cycle time, cost, and improve overall quality of execution.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES**
Executes projects that increase process efficiencies, reduce cycle time, cost, and improve overall quality of execution within assigned department using project management methodologies (i.e. FPX). Makes significant improvements in the assigned areas by using process excellence methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma). Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating equipment and processes. May assist in creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods. Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results. Comply with all environmental, safety and occupational health policies (i.e., ISO14001 & OSHAS 18001). Performs other duties assigned by supervisor/manager as needed.
**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:**
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Student; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Industrial, preferred. Incumbent must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, be in good academic standing and have completed at least two years of studies. Previous Internship/Coop and/or Academic Research experience is preferred. Extracurricular experience in a student association/organization is a plus.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES and CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and LANGUAGES**
Must have excellent technical writing skills in English. Be able to gather and interpret process data to implement improvements in cycle time, yield, or quality. Participate or conduct in troubleshooting efforts by analysis and correction of both electrical and mechanical operating problems to maintain or improve existing site operations. Create and update production records and equipment operating procedures. Prepare and present oral and written reports, as needed, to technical and non-technical personnel. Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Visio and Minitab knowledge is highly desirable. Ability to assess issues and opportunities, establish priorities, and act with a sense of urgency.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
Associate is regularly required to stand; walk; occasionally required to crouch or kneel. Regularly works with Hand Tools. The associate will be working with a keyboard several times during the day.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Associate is required to wear gowning as per established Quality Procedures.
Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
