Your work environment at EXP
EXP’s Barrie office is currently seeking a Field Technician/Technologist to join their team. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful candidate will be joining a fast-paced group and gain real world experience.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
•Executing field work and inspections (borehole drilling, reinforcing steel, soil footing base, pile driving, and concrete/compaction testing as required)
•Scheduling and coordinating field operations (drilling, site inspections)
•Writing clear and concise field inspection reports
•Reviewing laboratory and field inspection reports
•Use AutoCAD, GINT, and Microsoft Excel/Word proficiently to create site plans, borehole logs, reports, etc.
•Some laboratory work such as testing cylinders, gradation analysis, proctors, etc.
•The candidate will interact with the on-site clients (contractors) to provide excellent service and a quick response to their testing needs
What your experience looks like
•College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology AND a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
•Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) in English
•Must be proficient with office software (Excel, Word) and experience with AutoCAD and gINT is an asset
•Must be able to accurately identify and classify soils
•Must be comfortable working in the field on construction project sites and traveling out of town, possibly for several days’ duration
•Strong people skills and ability to work with the wide variety of staff and clients
•A valid Canadian driver's license and access to vehicle is a requirement (mileage allowance will be provided)
