Actively participate and contribute to GFL’s Safety ProgramCommunicate all safety concerns immediately to SupervisorsAttend Safety MeetingsServe as on site liaison between client and contractor companiesUphold client specific safety protocols.Complete and submit Daily Toolboxes, FLHA’s and Near Misses/Haz ID’sSelect and Utilize appropriate PPE for the task at handSample / test waste to determine transport, packaging, and / or disposal requirementsEnsure waste is classified and disposed of in accordance with regulatory bodiesComplete appropriate manifest / TDG paperwork to accompany the waste pick upEvaluate customer needs and communicate back to the Sales or Technical teamRespond to and contribute to all Incident Response workProvide facility support and process work when requiredOperate small equipment such as, skid steer, forklift, man lift, transfer pumps etc.Supervision of project work ensuring all activities adhere to GFL’s safety programInvolved with execution of chemical and petroleum transfersInvolvement with Emergency Response and responding to incidentsParticipation in projects that are deemed out of scope or require more planning and preparationWhat's required:
Education, post-secondary, in environmental sciences, chemistry, biology or equivalent would be considered an asset.Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related field.Valid Driver License with a clear driving historyMust be willing and able to work through difficult weather conditions and challenging work site environmentsMust be willing and able to work flexible shifts, long hours, weekends and travel away from home as business demandsRegulatory and technical knowledge with respect to the Hazardous Waste Management Industry is a definite assetAbility to perform physical tasks including shoveling, lifting, moving containers and other heavy materialsGood computer skills including effective use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and WindowsFit for work every day including being clean shavenDetail oriented with excellent organizational, problem solving, time management, communication and interpersonal skillsEnthusiastic self-starter with a strong work ethic and proven track record for successReliable team player that is supportive of co-workersAbility to work at heights or in confined spacesAdditional training and experience such as First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, Fall Protection awareness, would be an assetRepetitive lifting of containers weighing up to 20kg, ability to perform moderately repetitious and labour based tasksEducation in chemistry or a related field considered a strong asset but is not requiredJoin us and become part of "Team Green" at GFL Environmental, where your skills and dedication will be valued and rewarded.
