Field Technical Service Specialist
**Job Description:** The MIG Gun Division (Bernard / Tregaskiss) of Miller Electric, an ITW Company, is looking for a technically skilled, field-focused **Field Technical Support Specialist** to join our world-class team. This role will preferably be located in Texas (Houston), Arizona (Phoenix), or Utah (Salt Lake City). In this role you will play a key part in supporting the adoption and growth of ITW’s advanced MIG gun systems and consumables for manual welding and hard and flexible automation customers. Working closely with sales and key account teams, you will support high-value opportunities, drive competitive conversions, and deliver measurable improvements in customer performance and satisfaction. You will support growth in **consumable revenue streams** —including contact tips, nozzles, and liners—by demonstrating the technical and economic advantages of ITW Welding solutions over competitors. Your strong collaboration and hands-on expertise make you a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer journey. **How you will make an impact:** **Technical Expertise** + Provide system-level technical process support and troubleshooting. + Work directly with key end users to evaluate and optimize their product selection, usage, and applications. + Troubleshoot and repair MIG Gun Division (MGD) products in the field. + Conduct on-site product trials, demonstrations, and comparative evaluations to support displacement of competitor solutions. + Educate customers and distributor partners on the advantages of ITW consumables and equipment to increase adoption and consumable revenue streams. + Provide after-sale technical field support to target customers as required. + Answer general technical support questions as needed to assist customers and internal teams. + Deliver product, application, repair, and distributor training to end users, distributors, and ITW Welding employees as needed. **Collaborative Support** + Collaborate closely with divisional leadership to demonstrate customer value through trials and system installations. Work cross-functionally with product management, sales, engineering, R&D, process development, training, service, and operations teams to ensure successful outcomes at target customer accounts. + Partner with the broader sales team to identify and pursue competitive conversion opportunities, demonstrating the superior performance, reliability, and cost benefits of ITW MIG gun systems and consumables compared to competitor products. + Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key end users, distributor partners, and internal teams to foster trust, encourage collaboration, and ensure ongoing customer satisfaction. + Support distributor training initiatives to ensure distributor partners are well-equipped to sell, support, and service ITW Welding products effectively. + Lead onboarding and continuous product knowledge training for new team members to ensure comprehensive understanding of ITW Welding systems and consumables. **What you need to do to be successful in this role:** + **Technical Aptitude:** Must possess demonstrated technical aptitude, be mechanically inclined, and have a strong working knowledge of welding processes commonly used in both flexible and hard automation. + **Relationship Building:** Ability to build and leverage relationships among employees, distributors, and key end-users. + **Presentation Skills:** Demonstrated ability to present and facilitate in front of groups. + **Teamwork:** Must be a collaborative team player with a positive attitude, high motivation, and strong decision-making abilities. + **Strong Organization Skills:** Well-organized, aggressive self-starter with a willingness to learn and grow. + **Self-Starter:** Ability to establish plans independently with limited direction or supervision. + **Adaptability:** Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment that values an entrepreneurial spirit. + **Communication Skills** : Excellent oral and written communication skills. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Welding, or a related technical field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Equivalent military / trade school training may be accepted in lieu of degree + 3 - 5 years of related work experience required. + Previous experience with integrated robotic welding systems and industrial controls is preferred. + Must be proficient with Microsoft applications and web-based solutions. + Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%. This role requires frequent domestic travel within the assigned region and may require periodic international travel, including but not limited to Canada, Mexico, Asia, and Europe. **Physical Demands** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
