Field Service Technician

Responsibilities The field service technician will provide services (commissioning, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting/repairs) at Customers' locations, mainly on fixed gas and flame detection systems. They consist of electronic/optronic detectors connected to our own controlers and sometimes to the Customer's PLCs/supervision systems. Part of his activities will also be to provide services on portable gas detectors with cloud-based data monitoring. The position is home-based with mostly regional travels. The main part of his activities are based on regular maintenance contracts plus some on-demand services. The technician is quite autonomous for scheduling, organizing his jobs, ordering spare parts etc. but as part of our Northern France team he/she reports to our team supervisor and benefits from the support of the team, of the admin team based close to Lyon, and from other departments within our organisation (Sales, IT etc). 70% 1. On-site Maintenance (preventative-corrective) Responsible for a certain amount of maintenance contracts or “on demand” Service jobs in his geographical area. 1.1 Fulfills the orders (preventative maintenance) at Customers’ sites: plans the visits with the Customers, orders spares, prepares documentation and tooling, makes safety risk analysis, provide the service on site, tests the systems with the Customer if required, and issues complete, honest and undebatable reports in a timely manner. 1.2 Goes to Customers on emergency calls for corrective maintenance on “unplanned” mode 1.3 Responsible for own car stock: enters his actual needs in the IT systems, defines his own safety stock; manages his inventory 1.4 Supports calculation of contracts quotes by estimating required hours/effort, parts and kilometers. Product Groups served: PG07/14 (FGFD), PG08 and all other PGs according to the market / to MSA strategy. 20% 2. Start up and commissioning of ETO projects Once delivered and installed by the Customer or our subcontractor, the technician checks the installation / system, powers it and takes all relevant actions to make the system meet the order’s requirements. Performs the Site Acceptance Test with the Customer, gets the Customer’s approval. Provides training to Customers on the utilization of the systems. Reports to Projects Dept to take any necessary actions, archive “as built” programs and documentation. Forwards all the necessary data to issue a maintenance contract offer or update an existing maintenance contract. 5% 3. Warranty and sales support Fixes warranty and Quality issues at workshop and Customer’s locations. Supports Sales in appointments, technical assistance etc Co-operation with other departments / administration: Fills out Product Concern Form according to Quality requirements Provides telephone customer support according to the rules. Qualifications High Level Requirements of Position: Experience (required): 2 years in a technical position in an industrial environment Self-motivation & focus, consciousness of his environment, calm Customer oriented Experience (preferred): · 5 years as a field Service engineer · Instruments/measuring/detection, electromechanics, pneumatics, electronics · MS Office >> Word and Excel advanced Education (required): · Technical degree (5 years secondary school) · English Education (preferred): · Technician or BSC, graduated, · Electrical or electronic or mechanical - e.g. mechatronic or electronical engineer Travel: 90% at Customer’s mainly on a regional basis (team average # of nights outside of home 2/month, est. driving time 30%)
