Job Description
This position involves assembling and installing transformer units, troubleshooting, and repairing transformers, as well as conducting onsite testing. Candidates with a power generation experience, particularly those who have worked with industrial-sized transformers, substations, pad mount transformer units, and residential transformer units, are highly preferred. The role consists of five different levels of field service for five different groups and requires 100% travel. Technicians will work in teams of 4-5 crew members, traveling from project to project to perform new installations, assembly, and electrical troubleshooting.
ResponsibilitiesReceive assignments and instructions from lead and manager, both verbal and written.Read, understand, and follow guidelines set forth by company procedures and blueprints when performing assigned work.Select proper materials and parts for assembly operations.Setup and layout materials and tools for all assembly operations.Maintain the required clearances and dimensions for the voltage classifications specified.Demonstrate advanced knowledge and troubleshooting experience in electrical testing and theory.Demonstrate advanced knowledge and troubleshooting experience in controls.Demonstrate advanced knowledge and troubleshooting experience in oil processing.Understand and interpret blueprints.Compose Field Reports (Daily Activity reports, etc.) and any other job site, customer-specific reports to management or customer in a timely manner.Essential SkillsProficiency in transformer assembly, electrical testing, controls, LTCs, and oil processing.High School Diploma or GED equivalent.3+ years of industry-specific (transformers) work experience.Utility experience.Report writing experience.Valid Driver’s License.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in power transmission, high voltage, circuit breakers, and substations.Work Environment
This is a 100% travel role where technicians are out for 4-5 weeks at a time, working in teams of 4-5 crew members. The operations run from Monday to Sunday, and technicians may work 10 straight days, 8-12 hours per day, with a few days off between projects. On average, technicians work over 70 hours per week, with 30 hours of overtime. The company provides a service vehicle, tools, PPE, fuel, and a company credit card. Accommodations are at Hiltons and IHG, with a per diem for food. All benefits are offered immediately without a probationary period. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities to grow due to the expansion of service work across multiple locations.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $67000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
