What you'll do The VSAT Technician is a senior level field Technician position in which the level of knowledge and experience will provide a technician capable of working on the most complex installations and services with high degree of independence from onshore assistance. Role is to manage the site installation or fault restoration; either alone or as a lead of L1 or L2 technicians, within a scope of work defined by Project or Operations management to a successful conclusion; proactively resolving situational problems across the range of RigNet (Viasat) services. The day-to-day Installation, commissioning & fault diagnostics of GEO VSAT fixed single and dual Antenna Systems Installation, commissioning & fault diagnostics of GEO VSAT stabilized single and Dual Antenna Systems configuration Commissioning & fault diagnosis of single & multiple carrier services on the above systems related to specific manufacturer Satellite access technologies for SCPC, TDMA, IDirect, CnC Installation commissioning of HTS VSAT, LEO & MEO systems such as GX, O3b Oneweb Installation, configuration and commissioning of RigNet managed Network Lan infrastructure on site Installation, configuration, commissioning, and fault diagnostics of Out of Band system Subject matter expert (SME) for a paticular RigNet (Viasat) service or manufacturer equipment offering Aligns with all RigNet, customer and regional compliance, HS&E and QA policies and regulations Maintains all requested RigNet documentation and reporting procedures Completes and mentors RigNet associated technical training to within accepted levels Note: commissioning refers to onsite configuration and test of associated equipment What you'll need University Bachelor Degree (3 years) in Electrical / Communications / Computer discipline with 4 years recognised industry experience with demonstrated success at the level College Associate Degree ( 2 years) Level Electrical / Communications / Computer certificate with 2 years proven demonstrated delivery in the subject area Company apprenticeship or vocational training as part of structured training program within similar technology company profile Specific advanced manufacturer training including train the trainer competencies and recognized RigNet technology training ( GVF & Cisco Network , Stabilised terminal & satellite access technology certifications). Experience of 4 years recognised industry experience with demonstrated success at the level. PC literate – Windows Applications etc Great level of English & Written Communication Technical evidence to support O&G telecommunications knowledge on: Orbit TRX7-750 O3b Classic , fix, restore \ maintain Intellian V130 Mpower Intellian V240MT O3b , Seatel 9797 terminal ; Troubleshoot, restore \ maintain Intellian V100NX : install, commission, fix, restore \ maintain Intellian V130 : fix, restore \ maintain Trained OW Kymeta/Intellian installation What will help you on the job Skilled Electrical installation of infrastructure including rack, junction boxes, cables ( coax, Ethernet, fiber, signal & electrical) including termination of all connectors to within manufacturer specifications Competent use of associated installation and test equipment ( spectrum analyzer, power meter, DVM, OTDR, Oscilloscope, Fibre Splicer etc ). Fluent English written and spoken preferred. Effective management and leadership of L1 & L2 technicians Effective communication & documentation to line manager, Project manager ( external & internal ) and client stakeholders. Logical and structured problem solving abilities in a pressured environment with information constraints.
