Our EM Certified team is responsible for generating a new revenue stream by actively trading-in, refurbishing and reselling previously owned systems.
Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy technologies with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sciences, semiconductor, electronics, and natural resources markets, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to customers' pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.

Day in the life of a Field Service Engineer:
How you will make an impact:
The Field Service Engineer for the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific performs with the assistance of an expert Engineer on refurbishing of electron microscopes!
The Apprentice Engineer for EM Certified will join a complementary team of engineers with skills ranging from sophisticated computer networks, precision mechanics, high vacuum theory, electron optics and chemistry. This role provides the opportunity to grow to roles within the Operations and Service teams across the Thermo Fisher organization!


What you will do:
• Participates/shadows on-site system un-crating and crating activities at the EM Certified facility.
• Participates/ Shadows assessing returned systems and making detailed refurbishment plans
• Participates/shadows on-site system refurbishment activities at EM Certified facility
• Provide solving and repair support within the EM Certified facility
• Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with colleagues
• Complete technical training, as required
• Travel if required to customer sites for System Evaluation, Installation and/or De-installation
• Partner with colleagues to acquire knowledge via technical mentorship
• Provide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting documentation
• Must maintain Thermo Fisher Scientifics’ 4-i Values.

Start Date: This internship is set to begin on either May 11th or June 15th, 2026 for a duration of 10-12 weeks – dependent upon student availability per academic calendars. Compensation & Relocation: Our undergraduate Engineering internships offer an hourly rate between $21.50 - $28.75 dependent upon the location you are supporting (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines). Additionally, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 if necessary. Student must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of the internship to be eligible for the relocation stipend.How will you get here?Undergraduate student completing an Science or Engineering-related degree between December 2026 and June 2027.0 years of work experience required; previous related internships preferred.Consistent track record of results demonstrating integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity.Energized through championing change, driven in getting results, and savvy in navigating ambiguity.Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship (current or future) for employment visa status.
