Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Field Scientist to join our Crop Health Research and Development (CHRD) Integrated Field Science (IFS) team in the South San Joaquin Valley of California. The individual must be willing to relocate to a location where they can execute and oversee self-initiated trials in various South San Joaquin Valley locations, such as Shafter, Corcoran, Five Points, and Dinuba.
In this role, you will use your scientific and agronomic skills to execute the CHRD project workplan for self-initiated entomology, weed science, plant pathology and nematology trials. You will work closely with the CHRD Field Science Leader and other stakeholders to plan and implement the assigned CHRD field trial program, including completing work in specialty and row crops on the efficacy, crop safety, and characterization of crop protection and biostimulant technologies.

Establish, implement, evaluate, record, summarize and archive field research focused on approved biology research questionsProvide technical leadership to the biology and commercial teams you supportEffectively interact with other Field Scientists, biology leaders, and commercial counterparts, collaborating on various research programsPerform robust data summary, statistical analysis, and reporting activities for project stakeholdersSupport commercial stakeholders in customer technical educational opportunities and technical field support activities as neededChampion a world-class safety culture by actively learning, applying, and promoting best-in-class safety processes and proceduresRole Qualifications:
The following are required:
PhD degree in Entomology, Weed Science, Plant Pathology or related field of study or 10+ years of direct experience in a similar roleExperience with applied agricultural field trial workGood understanding of statistical tools and principles commonly used in agricultural field trial activitiesSignificant hands-on experience with pesticide applications/able to obtain a valid applicator licenseFamiliarity with farming and field trial equipment, such as tractors, sprayers, implements, etc.Good organizational skills to plan and coordinate experiments across multiple projectsDemonstrates the ability and willingness to work independently and during non-conventional work-hoursExcellent personal interaction skills required for effectively developing strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of peopleFamiliar with Microsoft Office SuiteValid driver’s license and the ability to driveAbility to work outside during high summer temperaturesAbility to get medically approved for a respiratorAble to regularly lift 30 lbs / occasionally 50 lbsEnglish-speakerMust be currently authorized to work in the United StatesBenefits – How We’ll Support You:
