Field Safety Engineer, Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging
Description The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team builds full-stack innovation that ensures fulfillment and delivery network safety, speed, optimization, and value. We tackle big goals for the Amazon business and work hard to make automation history through invention, problem-solving, and highly-engaged teams. MSP is a global organization, with research and development labs based in Seattle, WA and Milan, Italy. In MSP, the Field Safety Engineers (FSEs) are responsible for evaluating the safety risks associated with installing automation and robotic products. FSEs collaborate with product design teams to develop and execute risk mitigations plans and support the scaling of deployments into production. The position also collaborates with suppliers and general contractors during construction to ensure compliance to the appropriate regulations, industry standards and Amazon policies Key job responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the Field Safety Engineer are as follows: 1. Perform safety risk assessments during all development phases of a product. 2. Collaborate product deployment activities with engineering, facilities, site safety, operations teams, suppliers, and contractors. 3. Develop a comprehensive safety protocol for contractors installing robotics equipment in various fulfillment centers around the world. 4. Validating contractor credentials to ensure they are certified/trained/competent to perform the required work and review contractor safety risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHA). 5. Advises site safety, engineering and operations teams on safety regulations and regulatory compliance concerns relating to field environment and construction safety. 6. Ability to travel up to 40% to locations across the North America and the EU. Basic Qualifications - BS degree in an Environment, Health, and Safety discipline or engineering field. - 3-5 years of experience working on industrial construction projects with strong understanding of industry safety standards and regulations. - Must be familiar with applicable construction safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA 30, 500 and 510. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with machinery safety - Knowledge of ANSI B56.5, ANSI B155.1, RIA 15.06, ISO 13849, NFPA 79 - Strong verbal and written communication skill with confidence to present to large executive audiences. - Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
