We are looking for a Field Medical Lead, Immunology to join our Medical Affairs team, ideally based in Greater Toronto Area, ON or Greater Montreal, QC
About the role
The Field Medical Lead key accountability is the leadership of the Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), for consistency & excellence of MSL plans across Canada and the ecosystem. The Field Medical Lead will lead, inspire, and model cooperative teamwork behaviors that enables their MSL team to be accountable for creating & coordinating field medical strategies and executing tactics independently as part of the medical function.
Who you’ll work with
The Field Medical Lead will lead a therapeutically aligned Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team and provide senior medical presence, leadership, coaching, and accountability to drive individual and team results. This individual will be required to have a field presence and maintain customer relationships with stakeholders.
What you’ll do
MSLs leadership responsibilities (medical delivery, external engagement, internal X-functional work):
Recruitment, onboarding, development, coaching, mentoring & management of area MSL teamDevelop & implement aligned MSL training curriculums in partnership with the Medical Strategy HeadEnsure implementation of local field medical plan and monitoring of performance vs. objectivesCoach and model high impact medical engagement, delivery and scientific & clinical differentiation of TA.Alignment & cross-functional collaboration within the ecosystem team so that MSLs are empowered to be the medical leaders of the field ecosystemEnsure a clear process, seamless collaboration with the clinical study management team to support clinical studiesEnsure a clear process, seamless collaboration/coordination with the medical information team to ensure prompt delivery of standard responses to external stakeholdersThe Field Medical Lead will establish a presence within the region with external stakeholders through regular participation in conferences and field meetings with their MSLs.Ensure goals are accomplished within boundaries established by regulatory, legal and compliance in accordance with company policies, processes and sound ethical practices.
Cross functional input into country TA strategy and ecosystem plans (with ecosystem leads, solution teams, Medical area, Access):
Contribute early and actively to the development of the cross functional country TA strategy and ecosystem plan from the pov of MSLs/ medical customer engagement.Provide key input for medical/MSL plans execution for ensuring the best leverage of medical engagements and customer facing tactics and in a compliant manner.Field Medical Lead to collaborate and coordinate with local medical team (Medical Strategy Head) to align on ecosystem-specific medical strategies and plans aimed at ensuring the relevance of UCB’s clinical value proposition
Contribution to the regional & Global Medical capability development (across medical affairs community
Promote best practice sharing and identification of synergies and collaboration cross assets and cross indicationsResource optimization & effectiveness including budget managementPiloting of regional initiatives and sharing of insights/best practice through MSL communityEffective implementation of Global MSL Excellence capability framework that result in consistent, valued outcomes and maximize in-country impactMonitor local healthcare environment and share insights with GMA to evolve Global MSL Excellence capability framework
Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience, and skills:
PhD or Masters Degree (PhD, PharmD or MD degree preferred)5+ years of demonstrated Medical Affairs leadership experience or/and 3+ years effectively managing a Field Medical teamRelevant therapeutic area experience is a plusDemonstrated strength in strategic medical planning, tactical plan development and implementationEstablished relationships with external scientific and clinical experts in dermatology and rheumatology in CanadaThis is a field role with a national scope therefore willingness to travel on regular basis is needed; bilingual fluency is an asset
