Field Engineer - Data Center - Rosemount, MN
This Opportunity: The Field Engineer is a key member of the project operations team that provides critical support to Project Management and is the liaison between the Field and the Office. Under the supervision of Project Management, the Project Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of pre-work and post work submittal packages, processing, validating and compiling cable test reports, drafting and processing RFIs, preparing change order requests, verifying field conditions against design documents, ensuring working sets of drawings and specifications are kept up-to-date, maintaining redline / as-built drawing sets and keeping project records appropriately filed. The most critical responsibility of this key role is communication. The Project Engineer must ensure that the entirety of the extended Project Team is always up to date. Follow Safe Work Practices that conform with the Company’s Safety Program and client worksite policies ensuring that every person on the team Stays Accident Free Every-day. + Promote company Core Values to foster and safeguard Company culture. + Participates in the RFP processes, completing a detailed review of plans, specifications, and entirety of bid package. + Provide close support to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager. + Evaluate and continually suggest improvements to processes used by Project Delivery Teams to effectively meet customer requirements and expectations. + Create material submittals for customer approval + Identify needed materials and generate requests for materials + Create and maintain project trackers. + Manage, mentor, and develop colleagues. + Interact with the customer to validate our understanding of expectations before, during, and after project completion. + Aid in providing close support and oversight for our subcontractors. + Manage project review process with particular emphasis on constructability, value engineering options and design discrepancies / clashes. + Gather all close out data and validate it meets customer requirements. + Proactively and systematically communicate challenges, risks, and successes. + Coordination with Project Superintendent(s) to understand and assess installation methods, labor needs, and manpower forecasts. + Support QA/QC by ensuring adherence to the Quality Control plans and process. + Ensure that all downstream team members are meeting deadlines on assigned tasks. + Reviews contracts, work orders and purchase orders to fully understand contractual requirements and provisions, and to ensure scope of work is in alignment with associated estimate and respective contract documents. + Cultivate and maintain customer relationships. + Work with the field operations team to ensure proper materials and equipment are available. + Coordinates with customer for acceptance and signoff. Needs for Success: + Must be proficient and well-practiced in leveraging information and data in making informed decisions. + Extensive knowledge of Safety protocols, processes and procedures. + Deep understanding of industry specific estimating and engineering best practices. + Ability to identify change events. + Knowledge of various construction technology platforms, quality, and safety standards. + Ability to understand and develop project schedules. + Demonstrated professionalism and ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others. + Ability to work under time constraints and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. + Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills, including excellent customer service skills. + Disciplined, detail oriented, organized, and self-driven. + Demonstrated skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. + Proficient in using a computer and business / industry applications - Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.), Bluebeam, Procore, Textura and others. What You Bring to the Table: + Bachelor’s Degree Construction Management, Engineering or other related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. + Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry in a similar role. Experience with large structured cabling projects and/or data center construction projects highly preferred. + Preferred professional certifications: + OSHA-30 Hour certification (if not certified at time of hire, certifications must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment) + BICSI TECH + BICSI OSP + BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD #LI-TK1
