Field Engineer
Field Engineer Your main responsibilities Primary Function The Field Engineer provides technical support to field operations by evaluating standard techniques, identifying critical problems and recommending solutions for the installation, adjustment and maintenance of elevators and escalators. The incumbent makes independent technical decisions on details of work covered by engineering standards and receives direct supervision and guidance primarily on unusual, critical or controversial problems or questions. Your Main Responsibilities + Provide technical support by phone to assigned branch when they have difficulties to solve complex technical issues. + Provide support on site when the escalated issues cannot be solved remotely. + Provide support on site to help in the commissioning and start-up of complex projects or equipment. + Support the field in the installation, commissioning and start-up of pre-series and/or 0- series from new products in introduction phase. + Provide Technical support to the sales force and service leaders when bidding for a complex New Installations / Modernizations job or a complex service contract which demands more than the usual know how in the sales force if and when required. Technical Support and Solutions + Collaborate with field mechanics to troubleshoot escalated calls related to problem units + Evaluates or devises alternative approaches to problems encountered in areas including equipment installation and adjustment, equipment servicing, component application, field investigations and preparation of related engineering documentation + Identifies critical problem areas and recommends corrective action(s) Project Management + Develop, implement and maintain procedures to monitor and respond to callbacks, and “sick – units” + Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of field work in a portion of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope + Completes tasks and assignments within budgetary limitations and in accordance with applicable specifications, codes and schedule requirements + Creates surveys and analyzes jobs to develop specific requested technical field data and prepares related reports What you bring Education and Experience + Degree or Diploma, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering + 2-3 years in elevator industry or related experience, or a similar industry which includes the sales and servicing of capital equipment Critial Skills + Proficient in MS Office + Analytical: ability to think conceptually to have impact, ability to understand complex tasks/situations/problems, analyze them using a systematic approach and identify trends or relationships + Communication: Communicate clearly and articulately + A service mindset: Demonstrate costumer focus through creating value for the customer + Customer Orientation: The understanding and will to search for, work on and meet or exceed customer’s needs. + Presentation: Ability to present materials clearly + Organization: Possess excellent organization skills with the ability to balance high volume of activities and changing priorities + Drive for Impact: Ability to fully understand the problem, assess responsibility, explore alternatives, develop creative solutions and negotiate settlements + People and Team Orientation: Ability to interact with all levels and be an integral part of the operation and work to foster development of others + Innovation: Demonstrate the ability to embrace new concepts and change as well as seek new ways of doing things + Achievement Orientation: A concern for working or for competing against a standard of excellence, one’s own past performance, the performance of others, or objective measures Travel + Must be available to travel (30% - 40% of time) What’s in it for you? + Competitive Salary (commensurate with experience) + Competitive Bonus Incentive Program or Commission Plan + Wide range of professional and leadership development opportunities + Competitive Extended Health, Dental & Vision Plans + Generous Paid Time Off Plans + Tuition Reimbursement Program + Competitive Group RRSP with Company Match We Elevate… Your Career Become part of our team and help us enhance quality of life and drive innovation while raising the bar for safety and sustainability.
