Chevron is accepting online applications for the position **CP Technician located in Mt Belvieu or Alvin, Texas** through August 6th, 2025, at **11:59 p.m.** ( **DST** ).
Field Corrosion Tech are proficient in CP maintenance work processes required for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of pipeline systems. They coordinate their own work and work with other team members or contractors in performing daily CP maintenance work processes. Field Corrosion Techs are required to obtain and maintain NACE Level 1 certification. They are proficient in CP maintenance work processes required for the safe, accurate and efficient operation of pipeline systems. They coordinate their own work and work with other team members or contractors in performing daily CP maintenance work processes. They act on their own initiative to identify and correct workplace hazards, unsafe practices, security violations or environmental concerns. Field Corrosion Tech may act as a field team liaison with Subject Matter Experts and perform link pin or link pin type responsibilities. Field Corrosion Techs are required to obtain and maintain NACE certification.
Field Corrosion Tech are process oriented with a focus on results. They apply technical and business principles and use quality tools and methods to make independent decisions in performing daily work. Field Corrosion Tech maintain a Hazwoper Level III and Level V certification. Knowledge of emergency response procedures have been demonstrated through hypothetical drills or actual experience
**Key Job Responsibilities (essential position functions):**
+ Conduct surveys of corrosion management systems (internal and external), equipment and facilities.
+ Inspect and evaluate the conditions of coating systems on existing or new pipe and equipment and ensures necessary coating repairs are made.
+ Take bi-monthly rectifier inspection readings.
+ Evaluate survey and inspection information and make necessary system adjustments, corrections or repairs -- including but not limited to; disconnecting electrical power to rectifiers and making rectifier repairs, troubleshooting low potentials and making adjustments, maintaining and repairing grounding systems, inputting data into CP data bases and generating necessary reports, collecting and installing corrosion coupons on pipeline systems, providing field inspection of atmospheric corrosion control projects.
+ In consultation with the HE&S SME, dispose of, or direct the disposal of, waste generated as a part of daily worked performed in a safe manner and in compliance with all hazardous waste transportation and disposal regulations and requirements.
+ With direction from the HE&S SME, prepare manifests for the shipment of hazardous wastes and prepare soil or other samples for shipment.
**Additional Duties as Assigned by Management:**
+ May act as Field Team liaison with Subject Matter Experts and perform link pin or link pin type responsibilities.
+ Respond to inquiries regarding leaks, line locations and encroachments and take appropriate action to rectify.
+ May coordinate the inspection, performance and documentation of facilities compliance checks, and track compliance checklists.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Valid Driver’s License. No DWI/DUI in the past 3 years and no more than 1 moving violation in the past 2 years. DMV records will be checked.
+ Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
+ NACE Level 1 certification (must be obtained and maintained).
+ HAZWOPER Level III and V certification (must be obtained and maintained).
+ Must meet DOT operator qualification requirements prior to performing any DOT-covered tasks.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Additional certifications in hazardous waste management or cathodic protection.
+ Demonstrated experience in CP system maintenance and corrosion management for pipeline systems.
+ Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations.
+ Ability to coordinate field teams and contractors.
**Relocation Options:**
Relocation may be considered only for internal candidates.
