THE FIELD COORDINATOR CO-OP OPPOURTUNITY

Canadian Turner Construction’s Vancouver office is seeking students for an 8–12-month Field Coordinator Co-Op term beginning in September 2025. The Co-Op position requires availability to work on-site or in the head office from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The role will involve assisting in obtaining, evaluating, and coordinating project engineering information needed to construct projects. Co-Op student will report directly to the Project Manager or Project Superintendent. The goal of the Co-Op term is to provide the student with hands-on experience in construction operations, with supervised practice either on-site or in the office.

As a Field Coordinator Co-Op, you will:

Assist the Project Manager with obtaining information and approvals for processing shop drawings and submittals.Disseminate Construction information to appropriate parties.Assist in the preparation of contract items list.Monitor field variations and keep the Project Superintendent informed of any changes.Ensure that subcontractors understand and adhere to the job schedule.Ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner’s safety program, safety codes and regulations.May perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Is this the right role for you: 

Working toward a four-year degree in Engineering or Architecture or equivalent is preferred.Basic knowledge of building construction. Capable of identifying problems and recommending corrective actions. Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs. Basic understanding of scheduling programs, preferred.Basic ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Familiar with lean methodology. Strong ability to demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills and teamwork with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing. Desire to learn & develop.

The base hourly rate for this co-op role may be between $21.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on years of school and previous co-op experience.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The job requires climbing stairs, using hoists and ladders, and navigating construction areas. Employees will frequently sit, climb, stoop, kneel, use tools, and work with computers. Vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The role involves mobility, occasional travel, and work at various sites. Employees must lift up to 10 pounds regularly and 25 pounds occasionally. Work environments include construction sites with exposure to hazards like mechanical parts, heights, fumes, and noise. Employees must follow safety policies, with accommodations available for disabilities.
