**Position Summary**
RSI is recruiting for aField Characterization Lead to support environmental groundwater projects under the Department of Energy’s Office of Legacy Management (DOE-LM) contract.The Field Characterization Lead will oversee multidisciplinary field teamsand will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing a wide range of field investigation activities that support groundwater compliance strategies at legacy uranium processing and mill sites governed by CERCLA, RCRA, and UMTRCA programs. These sites, many dating back to the 1950s and 1960s, are located across the continental United States. Field characterization activities may include monitoring and extraction well installation, soil sampling, hydraulic testing, stream gaging, and surface and downhole geophysical surveys.
This role also involves project management duties and close coordination with Project Managers to ensure technical quality, maintain client relationships, manage schedules and budgets, and uphold safety standards throughout project execution.

**FLSA:** Exempt
**Hiring Range:** $70,000.00 – 85,000.00 per year.(The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)
This position is required to travel 20-50% of the time.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Safely lead and implement groundwater field characterization activities from project planning to closeout.
+ Lead project teams to meet project objectives in-line with company and customer quality expectations, and project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
+ Responsible for technical quality, client relationships, schedules, budgets, and safety.
+ Develop statements of work, support procurement activities, and lead and support the management of subcontractors.
+ Communicate and coordinate effectively with senior groundwater staff, project managers, site leads, and management.
+ Provide office technical support as needed. This may include data analysis, mapping, reporting, and data entry.
+ Effectively identify and manage project risks and develop mitigation approaches and strategies.
+ Supervise and provide tasks to junior staff; develop and mentor staff.
+ Collaborate across multiple disciplines and with clients to articulate and achieve project goals.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
+ Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in environmental field investigations, including experience with DOE, CERCLA/RCRA, or similar programs.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ Valid Driver’s License.
+ Professional Management Professional certification preferred.
**Required Skills and Abilities**
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to plan and execute environmental groundwater field projects in accordance with CERCLA/RCRA and other applicable regulations.
+ Proven ability to lead field teams and support subcontractors.
+ Ability to review documents electronically.
+ Strong knowledge of health and safety practices in field environments.
+ Ability to conduct site safety briefings and follow all DOE/LM/RSI policies and procedures.
+ Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
+ Willingness to travel to project sites across the continental U.S.
+ Ability to understand and communicate fundamentals of geology, hydrogeologic conceptual site models, contaminant transport and remediation.

**Essential Physical Requirements**
Light: Work involves moving objects by exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job/occupation is rated for light work when it requires (1) a significant degree of walking or standing, (2) mostly sitting while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls, or (3) working when the weight of the materials is negligible. (The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production-rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible).
