Job Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Field Application Engineer (FAE) with a strong background in commercial markets to drive proactive technical promotion and market development activities. This role is centered on cultivating strong relationships with commercial consulting engineers and key decision-makers to grow ABB's LV & MV product presence. Your primary responsibility will be to build influence and preference for ABB solutions within the commercial consulting engineering community, ultimately driving demand through specification and project conversion.

Core Responsibilities

Act as the technical champion for ABB’s LV & MV electrical products within the commercial sector, with a particular focus on building and sustaining relationships with consulting engineering firms.Meet or exceed sales and specification targets, with a focus on KPIs directly tied to commercial consultant engagement and project pipeline development.Lead the development and execution of targeted commercial market plans, aligned with business unit strategies and key commercial verticals (e.g., office buildings, retail, mixed-use developments, institutional infrastructure).Drive ABB’s “Push and Pull” strategy by identifying and influencing commercial consultants, specifiers, and decision-makers involved in major construction projects.Regularly engage with commercial consulting engineering firms to position ABB as a trusted technical advisor and preferred partner.Use ABB’s CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to document business opportunities, monitor pipeline activity, and report on specification success rates in the commercial segment.Deliver focused product presentations, lunch-and-learns, and training sessions to commercial engineering consultants to build familiarity and preference for ABB solutions.Support ABB sales teams and business segment leaders by translating consultant relationships into tangible project opportunities.Collaborate closely with product marketing teams to align messaging and strategy for the commercial segment and ensure consistent market presence.Provide competitive insights and market intelligence specific to commercial project specifications and competitor positioning.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineer status with APEGA or eligibility preferred.Minimum 5–10 years of experience in the commercial electrical market segment, with a proven track record of specification influence and consultant engagement.Minimum 5–10 years of successful technical sales experience with LV & MV power distribution and control equipment.Minimum 3–5 years in strategic account management, ideally with consulting engineering firms.Demonstrated success in securing large-scale commercial construction projects through technical promotion and consultant specification.Fluent in English; proficiency in French or other languages considered an asset.

Key Skills and Competencies

Strong technical understanding of LV & MV electrical distribution systems, automation, and control products used in commercial buildings.Deep knowledge of the commercial consulting engineering landscape in Canada, including key influencers, firms, and decision-making processes.Strategic thinker with analytical capabilities to understand consultant needs and align ABB solutions accordingly.Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to build long-term consultant relationships.Autonomous, entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative spirit to work across multiple business units and functions.High level of integrity, customer focus, and results orientation.
