Responsible and accountable for Fiberline day-to-day activities, safety, environmental, and Daily Management System. This includes the Woodyard, Unbleached Pulp Mill, Bleach Room, and Waste Treatment Plant.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock
Support a safe work environment through daily contacts with operators, monthly safety meetings, housekeeping focus, department safety teams, accident and near miss investigations, response to immediate shift issues.Understand environmental control systems and equipment. Ensure key parameters are monitored and responded to—to ensure zero reportable incidents.Understand PSM requirements to manage shift issues.Use triggers in all areas to obtain additional help or resources (safety, environmental, equipment, process, people).Support training in all areas.Support operators/team leaders in decision making/trouble- shooting process.Recognize and communicate outstanding effort, results of team members.Manage emergency equipment repairs on shift. Communicate future equipment issues for planned repairs.Monitor wood, pulp, liquor and chemical inventories and make decisions concerning decreasing or increasing production; shutting down or starting up lines of operation.Ensure that departments are manned and that operators communicate between departments. Manage overtime and attendance on shift.Responsible that all employees understand and utilize all safety requirements of job functions; in addition to use all required PPE during job tasks. Position requires full knowledge of safety requirements and ensure compliance and accountability. Working knowledge all safety procedures (including LOTO, fall protection, confined space entry, hot work and JHA for each position, proper guarding, seat belts, dock locks, etc.). Employee must follow standard work procedures and safe work.
What You need for success
A college degree is strongly recommended or a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Fiberline related position.Experience with Fiberline operations.Experience with waste water treatment plant operations.Basic understanding of mechanical integrity of equipment and machinery.General understanding of mill wide operations and interdependency.Understanding the Quality Policy and Environmental Policy.Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization.Must be able to clearly define objectives and be effective in involving other in achievement of those objectives. Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
