Our rich diversity of people and ideas makes us a stronger, more innovative organization. **Job Summary** Fiber Splicer Telecommunications/Fiber Optic technology/New fiber construction builds and upgrades. Fiber splicing High count fiber cables ex. 72F and 144F and cabinets and ring cuts. Experience with various fiber optic splicing technologies and testing equipment and test meters ( fiber optic Fusion splicer, OTDR, OLTS-light meter ). The ability to read prints, schematics and cut sheets. Computer skills for file management and data transfer. Precise hand-eye coordination. The ability to identify and distinguish colors. Must have good driving record to drive a company vehicle. This position is based out of Richmond, Va and the work is ongoing for the RBB project through the state of Virginia. Responsibilities Fiber splicing High count fiber cables 72F and 144F with cabinets and ring cuts. The ability to work with various Fiber optic splicing technology and test equipment ( fiber optic Fusion splicer, OTDR, OLTS-light meter ). The ability to use all tools associated with fiber splicing and testing. The ability to lift 50 lbs. and work from a ladder is required. Ability to drive and maintain a company vehicle and the DOT logbook. The ability to work independently and safely when needed. Available for emergency repair work when needed. Qualifications **Minimum** + High school diploma , or equivalent. + Valid Driver's License must have good driving record and pass background check, and Drug test. + Previous experience in HFC Telecommunications Networks, Fiber Technician, fiber splicing and use of test equipment. + Computer skills for file management. + Graduate of a fiber optic splicing school. + Previous experience fiber splicing. **Preferred** + 3 or more years of splicing fiber optic cables. + Previous experience in HFC Telecommunications Networks / Fiber Network Technician / Fiber Tech. + Any fiber splicing certifications ( FOA, NCTI, SCTE, BICSI ) or graduate of a fiber optic splicing school or verifiable work experience. + Previous experience driving telecommunications bucket trucks and the ability to tow a fiber splicing trailer. + OSHA 10 certification. **Physical Demands and Work Environment** This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination.
