Fiber Optic Technician – Orlando, FL Location: Various commercial and outside plant (OSP) sites across Central Florida Category: Structured Cabling / Low Voltage Technician Also Known As: Fiber Splicing Technician, OSP Technician, Structured Cabling Installer Join a High-Performance Team at Precision Contracting Services Precision Contracting Services (PCS) is expanding rapidly after winning multiple high-profile projects in both the outside plant (OSP) and enterprise commercial sectors. We’re looking for expert-level Fiber Optic Technicians who are ready to hit the ground running and grow with a company that promotes from within and values hard work, precision, and teamwork. What You’ll Be Doing + Work alongside full-time team members in commercial and OSP environments. + Start your day with a team meeting (6:30–7:00 AM) to review project scope and goals. + Travel to job sites in company vehicles and work 5–10 hours of overtime weekly. + Perform hands-on tasks including: + Fiber prep, splicing, and troubleshooting + + Testing with OTDR and other fiber test equipment + ️ Installing cable pathways, trays, and terminations + Fusion splicing, pigtail splicing, and connector installation + Ring/hot cuts and fiber closure installations + ⚡ Bonding and grounding fiber cables per client specs Top Skills & Experience + ✅ Expert-level proficiency in fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting. + ✅ Experience with OTDR operation and trace analysis. + ✅ Familiarity with Corning Fusion Splicers (M-90, X-77, I-LID, Opti-Splice). + ✅ Ability to install cable in aerial, underground, and inside plant environments. + ✅ Strong understanding of structured cabling and low voltage systems. + ✅ BICSI certification is a plus. Additional Qualifications + Ability to read blueprints and follow project plans. + Willingness to work long hours and take feedback/coaching. + Strong teamwork and communication skills. + Desire to grow into a full-time role—PCS promotes from within!
