Fiber Laser Programmer

Summary:  Program Fiber Laser machine to support work orders.

 

Responsibilities:

·       Create .L1 files using STREAM Laser for work orders that are staged on the machine.

·       Combine .L1 files into. Job files and send to the Fiber Laser machine.

·       Monitor partial sheet storage next to machine and utilize drop, when possible, to improve yield.

·       Write .L1 files for recut parts as needed.

·       Maximize sheet usage by focusing on nest efficiency.

·       Monitor small part Kanbans next to machine and insert filler parts where possible to improve nest efficiency.

·       Support Fiber Laser cutting material for other Quanex facilities as requested to support efficient operations.

·       Collaborate with manufacturing Engineer to continuously improve machine parameters and sheet sizes by type of material.

·       Manage laser cutting files in Office Console.

·       Update material database as needed.

·       Retrieving work orders from scheduling board and stage carts to be cut in sequence.

·       Programmer will be provided with .SLDPRT files from drafting which will be used to create laser nests.

·       The programmer will be seated at a PC on the floor next to the laser so that he can reuse drops and write programs specific to the carts that are in line to maintain one-piece flow manufacturing.

·       Collaborate, read and interpret drawings and shear lists to determine the kind of material needed and the proper dimensions necessary.

·       Document and report any issues or malfunction of laser machine.

·       Achieve or exceed 6s targets for the facility.

·       Assist laser operator with various maintenance tasks.

·       Follow all safety procedures, rules and guidelines; and notify supervisor/team lead of any existing or potential safety issues

·       Responsible for attending work on time and for scheduled hours each day.

·       Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

 

 

Education and Experience:

·       Experience in a manufacturing setting, with previous laser machinery or similar role is preferred.

·       Technical degree or certification in a relevant field is preferred.

·       Experience utilizing Salvagnini STREAM software preferred.

 

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·       Knowledge of laser systems and their operations.

·       Strong problem-solving abilities.

·       Ability to troubleshoot machinery.

·       Attention to detail and accuracy.

·       Use of reading and writing. Knowledge of basic math.

·       Ability to follow instructions and collaborate with other team members.
