Job Description

As a Fermentation Technician, you will play a crucial role in overseeing fermentation processes by managing nutrient addition, temperature, and pH control through PLC systems. You will be responsible for preparing and sterilizing fermentation media, equipment, and production areas while managing molasses preparation, fermentation setup, separation, and cleaning-in-place (CIP).

ResponsibilitiesMonitor fermentation processes, including nutrient addition, temperature, and pH control via PLC systems.Prepare and sterilize fermentation media, equipment, and production areas.Manage molasses preparation, fermentation setup, separation, and cleaning-in-place (CIP).Operate and monitor multiple fermentation batches simultaneously.Mix vitamins and other ingredients for fermentation recipes.Load/unload raw materials and finished products from shipment trucks.Operate molasses feed systems and fermentation tanks.Harvest yeast using centrifugation and manage storage of seed and commercial yeast.Maintain accurate batch records and documentation.Perform routine cleaning, sterilization, and basic equipment maintenance.Troubleshoot process and equipment issues.Follow SOPs and adhere to safety, sanitation, and quality standards.Participate in GMP, HACCP, ISO, and other quality/safety programs.Essential SkillsAssociate or Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.2+ years of experience in fermentation, food manufacturing, or industrial production.Knowledge of ISO standards, HACCP, FDA regulations, and PLC troubleshooting.Experience with SOPs, batch mixing, lab practices, and centrifuge operations.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with yeast fermentation or microbial culture.Familiarity with centrifuges, molasses systems, and industrial mixing equipment.Knowledge of GMP and sanitation standards in food or biotech manufacturing.Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.Work Environment

This role operates in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with exposure to industrial equipment, varying temperatures, and raw materials. Team members must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols. Success in this role requires strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
