Job Title: Fermentation Operator
Job Description

The Fermentation Operator is responsible for operating fermentation equipment to create animal probiotics. This role involves setting up equipment according to work instructions and fermentation parameters, identifying and troubleshooting deviations in process, product, equipment, and performance variations, and executing operations in mixing, pH adjustment, transfers, and process sequences while documenting steps and maintaining accurate records.

ResponsibilitiesOperate fermentation equipment to create animal probiotics.Set up fermentation equipment per work instructions and parameters.Identify, troubleshoot, and respond to deviations in process, product, equipment, and performance variations.Execute operations in mixing, pH adjustment, transfers, and process sequences.Document operational steps and maintain accurate records.Set up recipes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Essential SkillsBasic understanding of the fermentation process.At least six months of experience performing fermentation.Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in a fermentation facility.Ability to work collaboratively with other fermentation technicians.Work Environment

The position is based in a fermentation facility equipped with fermentation equipment. You will work alongside up to nine or ten other fermentation technicians. The role offers flexibility in working hours with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., or alternatively, starting at 5/6/7 a.m. Additionally, shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. are available. Occasionally, overtime may be required, starting at 5:00 a.m. or staying an hour or two later to complete a fermentation. The work environment is clean, with opportunities for growth within the department, such as promotions to lead or supervisor roles. You will collaborate with colleagues in the lab to verify product specifications.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
