We’re hiring an Operations, Installation & Maintenance Manager to lead our self-perform and subcontract crews installing fencing, gate, and access control systems throughout the Western U.S.
This is a high-accountability, field-forward role that owns schedule discipline, installation quality, crew efficiency, and customer success. You’ll be responsible for:
Translating scope into field executionCoordinating labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractorsLeading install crews across multiple active projectsEnsuring that complex gate and access systems are fully operational and meet specDiagnosing and resolving warranty and maintenance issuesThis role will sit at our Ideal Fencing Co office in Erie, CO—our operational headquarters for the Western U.S. region. Daily coordination with project managers, estimators, field teams, and executive leadership happens here. Being on-site is essential for impact, visibility, and influence.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of field execution for fencing, gate, and access control projectsBuild and lead self-perform crews while managing specialty subcontractors as neededPlan and coordinate installation schedules, manpower, equipment, and material deliveryEnsure installation adheres to design drawings, technical specs, and code requirementsCommission and test automated gate systems (operators, sensors, access panels)Own project punchlists, QC reviews, and customer closeoutImplement proactive maintenance protocols for recurring client workProvide hands-on training, development, and safety enforcement for field staffTrack crew productivity and job profitability in coordination with project managementPartner with Estimators and Designers to drive constructability and value engineering Qualifications
You are a gritty, field-proven operations leader who thrives in complexity and takes personal pride in delivering projects that work—and keep working. You have deep experience in fencing and gate system installation, including automated gates, and know how to get teams moving, aligned, and efficient.
You are capable of leading now and growing into a senior operations or general management role over the next 3–5 years.
Must-Haves
5+ years experience managing field installation teams in fencing, gates, or commercial constructionWorking knowledge of automated gate operators, card readers, access controls, safety loops, and troubleshootingProven ability to manage and optimize crew performance across multiple concurrent projectsComfortable with field technology (mobile plans, time tracking, field reporting tools)OSHA 30 or ability to obtain within 90 daysAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and installation manualsStrong communication, team development, and client-facing skillsWilling and able to travel throughout the Western U.S. as neededMust be based at our Ideal Fencing Co office in Erie, COPreferred Experience
Background in guardrail, DOT barrier systems, or perimeter securityPrior experience commissioning or maintaining automated access systemsFamiliarity with service-level agreements (SLAs) for warranty/maintenance contractsExperience in lean construction, process improvement, or field ops digitization

Location Strategy
This is an on-site role based at the Ideal Fencing Co office in Erie, CO. Candidates must either be local or willing to relocate. Preference is given to those within the Denver metro area or a major airline hub to support responsive travel needs.
