The Ford Feature Owner (FAST) position involves comprehensive ownership of vehicle features, from their initial development through to production implementation. Some of the innovative features we currently deliver and have in production include: Zone Lighting, MyKey, Digital Scent, and Remote Start among hundreds more.
Related previous roles in PD, DV Testing, Software or relevant Design Engineering positions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree
3+ years of experience with vehicle electrical systems and/or features
Strong learning agility
Ability to lead cross-functional teams
Strong systems thinking and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, with the ability to quickly understand and articulate complex issues
Emotional resilience to negotiate cross functional trade-offs
Lead the development of new features at the systems engineering level from early feature development to production and manage feature upgrade and migration plan
Execute a Systems Engineering approach to new feature design to meet customer needs.
Develop high level network, wiring and power distribution topologies / schematics / block diagrams
Allocate features and functions across electronic modules and subsystems to meet cost, quality and feature performance targets
Develop feature specifications, feature Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, feature verification plan, etc.
Review existing system designs to find new opportunities for cost or quality improvement. Interact with program teams, core engineers and functional areas to create balanced solutions to competing requirements
Develop relationships with cross functional teams and supply base to learn about the latest technologies and possible implementation
Analyze complex cross-functional systems and implement innovative solutions
Lead trade-off discussions with cross-functional teams
Communicate complex systems, issues and resolutions in a clear and concise manner
Utilize connected data & data analytics to develop a deep understanding of the customer
