Scope of Position:
The Family Services Intake Assistant is responsible for completing initial screening, completing intakes, providing information and referrals to clients as needed; enter and tracking in-kind donations in the “Others” database; assisting in food bank, Shelter and seasonal programs as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Demonstrate a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate with general public in a courteous manner. Experience with a multi-line phone system. Proficient with software computer programs including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet. Type 40 words per minute. Able to address multiple projects in a timely manner. Responsive, detail oriented. Ability to take projects from beginning through completion. Ability to work as a team player. Strong organizational skills. Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Client/household initial screening, intake and data-entry into “Others” (internal database). Contact vendors to confirm payment information and payment commitment. Provide client/household with information and referrals to appropriate agencies to assist with their needs. Fill out the Shelter intake forms and input into “Others Data Base”. Work with the shelter Lead RA on entry of clients into the shelter. Partner and collaborate with other agencies to provide and leverage assistance to clients/households. Maintain accurate records and files. Enter assistance type and amounts into financial ledgers. Assist with the food bank and other duties as needed. Assist with seasonal special events and projects. Answer phones, take messages and route phone calls from a multi-line phone system. Assist in compiling monthly reports and statistics. General filing and record keeping. Other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements:
Must be well groomed and adhere to the required dress code. Must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminishing performance. Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist body, stand for short/long periods of time, kneel, push, pull, have sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds unassisted, climb stairs, close vision, distance vision, talk, hear, have-eye hand coordination, have manual dexterity, speak and read, and working in noisy areas, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position. Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.Working Conditions:
This position may have frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated. This position will work with minimum supervision and that work involves a high volume of customers coming in and out.

Education & Work Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years of office experience preferred. High School diploma required.
