Cisco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Failure Analysis Technical Leader specializing in optics to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in optical product design and manufacturing, along with significant experience in conducting failure analysis and driving improvements. This role requires strong personal leadership and the ability to collaborate effectively with Cisco cross-functional teams and optics suppliers to drive continuous improvement in product quality and reliability.
As a Failure Analysis Technical Leader specializing in optics at Cisco, you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals to ensure the highest quality of optical products. Your interactions and responsibilities will include:
HW/SW Engineering and Optics Component/Supplier Quality Engineering: Work closely with these teams to conduct failure analysis and drive product quality improvements, ensuring alignment on failure analysis goals.Customer Quality Engineer and Customer Escalation Teams: Collaborate to address and resolve customer quality concerns, ensuring customer satisfaction. Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.Optics Suppliers: Build and maintain strong relationships to facilitate effective communication and collaboration in the failure analysis process and product quality improvements.Your Impact
Collaborating closely with Cisco teams and suppliers to conduct comprehensive failure analysis on optical products, including optical transport products and optics transceivers, as well as their sub-assemblies and components.Investigating and identifying root causes of product failures, leveraging your deep knowledge in optics and manufacturing processes.Developing and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions to address identified failure modes.Working with cross-functional teams and suppliers to drive process improvements and enhance product quality and reliability.Maintaining detailed documentation of analysis findings, methodologies, and outcomes to ensure transparency and continuous learning.Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment and drive quality improvements.Staying abreast of industry advancements and integrating new technologies and methodologies into failure analysis practices.Conduct comprehensive failure analysis investigations for optics products, including optical transport products and optics transceivers, to identify root causes of failures.Conduct physical failure analysis investigations to identify root causes of component failures.Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified failure modes.Analyze and interpret complex data to deliver actionable insights for product improvement.Lead Cisco cross-functional teams and optics suppliers in implementing solutions and driving improvements.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in optics and failure analysis methodologies.Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a Master’s degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related fieldProven experience working in failure analysis for optical products.Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate insights.Excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership are a must, with the ability to effectively collaborate with Cisco cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.Good understanding of optical products from component level to product and application level.Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in failure analysis and manufacturing.Knowledge and experience in physical failure analysis.Knowledge in circuit analysis and PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) manufacturing.Experience in supplier quality and customer quality management.Good understanding of reliability engineering and quality metrics.Familiarity with testing methodologies related to optical transport products and optics transceivers, as well as optics and electronics components.Why Cisco?
