The UPMC Hillman Cancer Center (UPMC HCC) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual for an open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position to lead the Cancer Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics Facility (CPPF). The CPPF Director will work to provide accessible, economical, comprehensive, and state-of-the-art pharmacology RD services that support preclinical and clinical research programs at UPMC HCC and the University of Pittsburgh. The faculty will have a primary appointment in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy.

Located in the city of Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood, UPMC HCC is an NCI-designated comprehensive matrix cancer center focused on state-of-the-art cancer research, training the next generation of cancer researchers, and community outreach. In 2020, UPMC Hillman celebrated its 34th anniversary and the renewal of its 5-year NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) that resulted in Hillman Research Administration scoring in the ‘Exceptional’ range and qualifying UPMC HCC for a 2-year merit extension. UPMC Hillman serves 29 western PA counties, serving nearly 5 million individuals, and provides unique opportunities to collaborate with clinical and translational research programs involved in cancer patient care, including the University of Pittsburgh, Magee-Women’s Research Institute, and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. UPMC HCC has over 330 members, 7 scientific programs, 10 CCSG-supported shared resources, $110 million of peer-reviewed cancer-relevant funding with over $60 million from NCI, and an institutional funding base greater than $150 million.

Successful candidates must have an MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent degree with a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in pharmacometrics and/or pharmacogenomics. Candidate should have an exceptional scientific research record encompassing basic, translational or population-based research using state-of-the-art approaches evidenced by scholarly productivity (e.g., grants, publications), and a productive academic record of cancer-related research relevant to pharmacometrics, pharmacogenomics, pharmacokinetics and/or pharmacodynamics with a minimum of >5 years’ experience in a cancer center or university setting. The ideal candidate will have expertise and research experience in the areas of clinical and non-clinical cancer pharmacology. Prior leadership experience related to strategic planning, large consortia organization and/or core related activities is preferred, with effective written and oral communication, informatics, people management, and interpersonal skills.

As a primary faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the candidate is expected to participate in the teaching and mentoring of the graduate and professional degree programs at the School of Pharmacy.
