Fact-Checking Producer, Bangalore
Reuters is seeking a journalist to join our dynamic and global fact-checking team.
You will have a passion for politics and current affairs, expertise in navigating social networks and a track record of spotting emerging trends and stories online.
Most importantly, you’ll need to have sharp instincts and a creative, determined approach to problem-solving under tight deadlines.
This position will involve identifying online misinformation related to U.S. & UK current events or other topical issues. You’ll conduct research to establish the facts behind the claims and write a comprehensive fact-check article.
You will be expected to deliver your findings in clear and concise English. Accuracy is paramount.
Prior experience in reporting, social media newsgathering, OSINT or fact-checking would be a clear advantage. However, as full training will be given, an enthusiastic willingness to learn quickly is at least as important.
About the role
As a Fact-Checking Producer, you will:
Identify misinformation concerning U.S. & UK current events and global breaking news storiesProactively pitch fact-check articles addressing misinformationConduct research and reporting at speed to establish the facts behind claimsDistil jargon and complex issues to lay out the required context that is both accurate and accessibleWrite clear, concise English copy without biasUphold Reuters standards and the Trust PrinciplesBe deeply familiar with social media as a newsgathering tool and how misinformation travels onlineSupport the Reuters fact-checking team in writing misinformation trend reportsWork as part of our friendly, collaborative and global fact-checking teamLeverage generative AI models to enhance and streamline our existing fact-checking workflowsThis role is based in Bangalore and will require occasional weekend work.About you

At least three years of news reporting and/or fact-checking experienceImpeccable writing in English under tight deadlinesAn interest in current affairs and sharp news judgment Track record in identifying trending content online and misinformationDeep familiarity with features of all leading social networks A skeptical eye and inquisitive nature#LI-BD1
