Summary About the Position: Oahu is the 3rd largest island in the Hawaiian chain. Responsibilities Serve as the Range Maintenance Manager. Develops, staffs, and maintains the 25th ID and the MSE-HI Range Maintenance Present, defend and coordinate developed positions to higher headquarters on the status of range facilities, maneuver lands, and training land requirements within the management authority of the installation commander. Incumbent must know the mission capabilities, tactics, and weapons systems used by, or in support of, combat and combat support units required to mobilize at the 25th ID and USARHAW activities. Develop the Range Maintenance Plan for all the 25th ID and MSE-HI range and training areas. Supervise assigned personnel in the maintenance of fixed ranges, training areas, firing points, and other training facilities. Carries out delegated personnel management responsibilities. Establish, monitor, and enforce Maintenance Branch safety procedures. Ensure development and application of safety guidelines relevant to range maintenance, access to project areas, marking of impact areas, posting of range limits, and compliance with explosive ordnance disposal procedures. Conduct regular or as needed safety inspections and provides written reports of findings to the supervisor. Follow-up on all safety discrepancies noted to ensure required corrective action is taken. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a maintenance program concerning range facility operations with complicated technical requirements needed to evaluate, adapt, or modify procedures and practices concerning property facilities, utility systems, buildings, equipment, plans, and grounds. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities Inspection Facilities Operations and Maintenance Facilities Reporting and Record-Keeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
