Duties Description The New York State Education Department is seeking candidates for a Facility Operations Assistant 1 position in the Office of Facilities and Business Services. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: • Empty recyclables and garbage;• Set up conference rooms;• Change lightbulbs;• Remove boxes from the stacks and bring boxes into the stacks;• Deliver and pickup recycle bins throughout the building and various office;• Pickup and deliver skids and boxes;• Deliver copy paper to various offices and locations;• Pickup and deliver surplus materials;• Bring scrap metal to the scrap yard;• Clean up and maintain the grounds, including salting, shoveling snow, plowing snow, mowing lawns, and pulling weeds;• Move furniture boxes and other heavy equipment and material;• Prepare cars for staff and drive staff as needed;• Work with all trades as directed; and • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be physically able to perform the duties assigned, including the ability to perform activities requiring medium to heavy lifting. Candidates must also possess a valid New York State driver’s license. Incumbents of this position are considered essential personnel.It is essential that candidates clearly and concisely indicate exactly how they meet the above minimum qualifications in their resume. Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a contingent permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of a valid New York State driver’s license will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. Candidates are required to possess a valid New York State driver’s license at the time of hire. Continued employment as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 is dependent upon maintaining a valid New York State driver’s license. Failure to maintain a valid New York State driver’s license will result in removal from employment. The work schedule for this position includes hours of Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:00pm. This position leads to a maximum salary of $44,828 based on annual performance advances. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
