Position Summary
The Facilities Manager is a full-time position that provides varied semi-skilled work in the maintenance of The Salvation Army buildings at the Long Beach Red Shield Corps. The employee filling this position performs manual and semi-skilled work. Assignments include routine maintenance, up-keep of buildings, up-keep of vehicles, upkeep of facility appearance, and other responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Functions
Perform, or coordinate, light maintenance throughout the property including vehicle maintenance scheduling, building equipment scheduling, and minor repairs. Coordinate room preparations for programs and events Perform, or coordinate, routine maintenance and cleaning up of restrooms, office areas, atrium, kitchen, conference rooms, hall areas, all public areas and sanctuary on the campus. Perform, or coordinate, routine care and maintenance of vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, mops and buckets, and other janitorial equipment necessary for the job. Responsible for ordering and shopping for janitorial and building supplies in advance of need, or as needed. Responsible for the financial stewardship of assigned departments and all associated processes (i.e. budgets, billing invoices, credit cards, checks, etc.). Organization and inventory of equipment and related documentation. Coordinating with outside service vendors, municipalities, contractors, and other departments (local, regional, and headquarters). Oversight of safety practices and policies, and maintenance of related documentation. Duties include, but are not limited, performing, or coordinating the sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors; spot cleaning carpets; emptying trash and replacing liners; cleaning and disinfecting sinks, urinals, toilets, handles and counters in restrooms; clean mirrors; clean glass in offices as needed; wash windows as needed; dust furniture, desk areas and windowsills; dust for cobwebs, run floor cleaning machine as needed. Pick up, or coordinate, donations and supplies for various programs and corps maintenance, as necessary. Operate special vehicles, including but not limited to, scissor lift, forklift, box truck (may require special license), canteen etc. Ability to perform, or coordinate, painting, and other minor handyman duties when needed. Supervise employees (and volunteers) through creating schedules, administering corrective measures, hiring, and training as needed. Ability to quickly learn and implement new software, digital programs/services, and technology. All other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position.PAY RATE: $22.00-$26.00/hr.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree or at least three year experience in related field. The ability to work independently yet functioning as part of a team is important. Good oral and written communication skills. Must demonstrate maturity in judgement and good crisis intervention skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and an ability to work with minimum supervision. Must be amenable to the mission statement of The Salvation Army, and function accordingly. Must pass FBI/DOJ background check. Must have a valid driver’s license.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge of the standard tools and practices of the various tasks needed for property up-keep. Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary to complete assignments. Ability to work independent of direct supervision Ability to supervise staff and volunteers Detail oriented with problem solving skills Attention to detail in the area of cleanliness, safety, and facility operations.
