Start Date:  ASAP, we have a new employee orientation class starting soonPay Rate:  $28.85 - 31.35/hr, depending on experience Shift:   primarily Monday-Friday, with emergency after hour calls as needed

Our building has character—it was built in 1965—but most of our maintenance needs involve routine preventive work and manageable repairs.

Job Description

What You’ll Do:  If you're the kind of person who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and keeping things running smoothly, this is the job for you.

As our Facilities Maintenance Manager, you’ll be responsible for the overall upkeep and safety of our building, grounds, and equipment. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who loves solving problems, staying ahead of wear and tear, and taking pride in a job well done. 

This is a hands on repair/maintenance position - NOT an administrative role.

You'll be the go-to person for everything from minor plumbing and electrical work to HVAC maintenance, preventive inspections, and equipment repairs. We do most of our repairs in-house, so your skills will be put to use daily without relying heavily on outside contractors.

This is a steady, proactive role—not just reacting to emergencies but helping prevent them. You’ll keep things working, keep people safe, and make a visible impact every day.

Typical Daily Tasks Include:

Performing routine maintenance on building systems

Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues

Maintaining records of service and repair work

Conducting inspections and identifying needed repairs

Ensuring compliance with IDPH, Life Safety, and internal safety standards

Responding promptly to maintenance requests from staff and leadership

Qualifications

Maintenance Director:  officially we title this job a Maintenance Director, but in other centers it may be called a Handyman, Building Maintenance Assistant or Facilities / Property Maintenance Manager.

What we need from you:

Ideally seeking entry level management candidates.  You will be considered a part of our leadership team, but will not have any direct reports. Experienced with IDPH survey requirements is preferred, but not requiredYou should have hands-on commercial experience with minor Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC repair and servicing needsThis is an older building.  You should be familiar with (and able to repair) equipment, such as:  PTAC units, and Fire Alarms (systems), drains, leaks and minor electrical issuesMust have excellent communication skills, written & verbal, to be able to interact with our employees and residents in the facilityYou should be comfortable working near/around medical patientsMust have a valid driver's license, good driving record and vehicle for work errandsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  This is a physically demanding position that will involve frequently lifting and carrying objects of 50+ pounds.
