The incumbent manages day to day maintenance for EHCC which includes a budget in excess of $80 million and approximately 1,116,300 sq feet of building area, 120 buildings which includes a Skilled Nursing Unit and a Mental Health Facility housing approximately 243 special needs inmates. Incumbent supervises subordinates and inmate workers assigned to maintenance and is responsible for the Preventative Maintenance program at EHCC. Why work for DOC? Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR Twelve semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + The incumbent of this position is responsible for the Maintenance Department of EHCC. The incumbent of this position serves as manager of all day-to-day maintenance operations and is responsible for supervision and technical performance of these operations. This includes supervising staff and inmates by daily planning and scheduling of all projects and work involved in operating a smooth and efficient division. Incumbent is accountable for all electrical functions, plumbing, installation and repair, heating and cooling systems, and other related equipment, repair and maintenance of all buildings, ground, equipment and sewage treatment. + Inspects grounds, buildings, and equipment to determine the need for electrical, plumbing, plastering, masonry or mechanical repair or other maintenance work; gathers estimates for the cost of labor and materials; inspects work in progress and upon completion inspect for compliance with standards and readiness for satisfactory operation; inspect work performed by subordinates. + Establishes long term programs and standards for maintenance and modernization of buildings and structures; prepares drawings and specifications and gathers estimates for additions, remodeling, and general repairs; inspects and orders changes as construction work progresses; conducts continuous inspection of buildings and structures to insure they are maintained in a healthful and sanitary manner. + Advises Facility Maintenance Manager B on all maintenance and repair problems; establishes specifications for the requisition of tools, materials and supplies; reports on equipment operation, of installation and maintenance work performed and of materials, supplies and equipment used.
